I recently got my hands on a book called Pretty Neat by Alicia Rockmore & Sarah Welch. Organization & cleanliness has never been my strong point, so when my book came in the mail, I was really excited to delve right in. The goal of this book is to help readers let go of perfection and get organized in a way that works for them. Pretty Neat includes stories, tips, ideas and more from real-life people.
Honestly, I loved this book. It was easy to read - I got through it in about an hour total. It has some great tips and it really spoke to me. I grew up learning that everything needed to be pristine in order to be clean. This book tells you that that is NOT the case. It has some great confessionals from other moms, too. It even has a bit on organization and weight loss. How cool is that? I never considered 2 to be related before, but I definitely do now and I'm definitely going to be applying some of the tips to my routine.
All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and I got a few really good ideas from it. I highly recommend checking it out, if you get a chance.
BUY IT! You can buy a paperback copy of Pretty Neat from Amazon for $10.17 or a kindle version for $9.58. AWESOME!

1 area of life that needs more organizing - my closets! (something simpler than what I've got apparently so that hubby can stop demolishing them. LOL)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a fabulous book! I love any tips about making life a little easier! I am a new follower!
ReplyDeleteI need to organize my tupperware section of the kitchen. I usually just throw and close!
ReplyDeleteWe have a little box with dividers that we keep all our kids artwork, school work, class pictures, etc. I love that the box is large enough to store stuff through high school but small enough that it doesn't take up a lot of room.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite orgaizational tip is to have a tote box in my Jeep... I keep handy stuff like Grocery bags, Gallon of water, Jumper cables, Roll of paper towels ect in a small tote with a lid so it's handy and neat.

organizational tip: If I haven't used something for anywhere from 6-12 months (depending on what it is) I toss it! lol
ReplyDeleteRight now the area of my life that needs the most organizing is our office. My husband and I share that space, and b/t ribbons and fabrics from me and paint, papers, books and so much more from him, we have more stuff than the space allows. lol Plus we both have etsy shops so we have shipping supplies everywhere. Sigh it's a disaster.

My biggest organizational challenge is my sweetie's hobby of restoring vintage collectibles. There is no dedicated space or storage for the items-to-be-restored, the finished items or the restoration supplies. It all just kind of spreads itself out infinitely everywhere...kind of like tribbles.
ReplyDeleteTip: I keep a calendar list of family & friend birthdays which includes the gift I give each person each year so I don't duplicate anything.
